firghtfestHere’s another FrightFest interview with Dom:

Horrorcultfilms: How did you go about crafting a character like Seth?

“Even when playing despicable characters there’s got to be a charisma – the charisma doesn’t have to be attractive, but there’s got to be something about them. With Seth he’s a lonely man and he’s trying to fix himself – that was my way in. Though it’s not implied strongly in the film he doesn’t have a relationship with his parents, he hasn’t got any friends, never had a girlfriend. We agreed he’s never had sex. So he doesn’t know how to act. Things we know you shouldn’t do, people would ask him not to, and he’d say ‘well why not?’ He just doesn’t know what to do. In a way, I find that beguiling: the naivety is his charm, and he gets himself in obviously very hot water.

My favourite part is when he talks about Pete Jackson thinking about getting hypnotised to watch LOTR as a fan for the first time!

More about Pet!

More great reviews and interviews following Pet’s UK premiere:

Dom appeared on Channel 5’s Saturday show – Click image below to go to the full episode. Dom’s part starts around the 1 hour mark.

On the red carpet:

I hope these reviews give you a little bit of a taste and get you excited about seeing Pet – having seen it myself now I think it’s brilliant. Keep an eye out for the official release dates!

Electric Shadows: “Twists, surprises and back and forth power shifts make this a riveting battle of wits and nerve, whose secrets are best left to discover for yourself.”

We Make Movies on Weekends: “With grim gory, the film is largely character driven and that’s the brilliance of it all. As Solo and Monaghan electrify their dialogue with emotion and a beguiling power-play, you’ll be immersed in the sinister world.”

Flickering Myth: “The pure genius of Carles Torrens’s Pet is that it constantly plays with audience expectations. Just when you think you’ve got Pet all worked out, Jeremy Slater’s script pulls out the rug, creating one of the best cinematic and storytelling experiences of 2016.”

Screen Daily: “A suspenseful mystery thriller which initially seems a straight lift from Fowles’ book, The Collector, but develops in other, surprising directions.”

And I’m bringing back an older interview from SXSW because… I can! And I forgot to post it when this came out.. Enjoy!

New TV show coming up with Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd!

billydomfrank

We’ve been seeing hints of this for a while now…

It looks like after Billy appeared on Dominic’s Wild Things show that we might be able to look forward to even more! Dominic Monaghan has just confirmed during interviews at the UK premiere of PET that there’s a new TV show coming up that he worked on together with Billy Boyd.

Travel / business of food show… sounds really good! From what I hear, it should be a project that’ll finally be revealed in 2017.

Dominic Monaghan – Manchester Mbassador!

manchesterdomThe new ‘Mbassadors’ programme was designed to help put Manchester on the map. Selected for the substantial work they’ve already done for city-region, these ambassadors will utilise their strong global networks to advance Manchester’s international profile.

Only seventeen Global Ambassadors have been confirmed, and Dominic Monaghan is one of them!

The programme will work with each ambassador ‘in a bespoke way’ to fit around their usual activity and travel, and expand their opportunities to promote the city region internationally.

Speaking at the launch this week, Sheona Southern, managing director of Marketing Manchester, part of Manchester Growth Company, said: “The Global Ambassador Programme has been a long-running ambition for Marketing Manchester and so it’s a real pleasure to be able to introduce it to you all tonight.”

“By enlisting some of Manchester’s most passionate and influential advocates, the programme will allow unique opportunities for encouraging inward investment, stimulating local pride, attracting and retaining talent, and ultimately developing the local economy.”

“The onus is now on the city-region to make the most of this opportunity to promote ourselves internationally. It’s up to our businesses to ask themselves where they can add value to expanding Manchester’s reach and improving the region’s international profile.”

Season 2 of #WildThings will air in the UK and Ireland

4d6c4-dominicmonaghanLast year Channel 5 aired the first season of Wild Things in the UK, but they chose not to continue the contract for season 2 (you can still stream season 1 On Demand by clicking HERE)

But English fans can rejoice now as Watch has acquired the second season, as well as Irish public broadcaster RTE.

All 10 episodes will air later this year on both channels. (Stay tuned!)

BBCW and BBC America executive producer, commissioning, Julie Swanston said British audiences love wildlife shows. “With Dom at the helm, it’s no surprise that Wild Things has become the latest of our original commissions to be picked up by a UK broadcaster.”

In the second series, Monaghan travels across the world searching for weird and wonderful creatures such as a giant spitting cobra, charging elephants and the creature with the longest fangs in the world.

WTW-Wild-Things_510x317

It looks like viewers in the UK will finally be able to see the rest of Season 1 of Wild Things!

“After a mid-series break, the actor resumes his worldwide search for unusual and interesting creatures. Dominic travels to Laos in Southeast Asia on a quest to find the giant huntsman spider, a venomous arachnid so rare that only a handful of humans have ever encountered one in the wild. Along the way, he has to deal with live ordnance left over from the Vietnam War, a reticulated python, a whip scorpion, a monitor lizard and a herd of water-dwelling buffalo, and is given a lesson in dealing with deadly creepy-crawlies by arachnologist Liphone Nophasead.”

Tune in to Channel 5 on Monday 18th November at 7PM!

If you missed the first 4 episodes, they are still available On Demand HERE.
