More about Pet!

More great reviews and interviews following Pet’s UK premiere:

Dom appeared on Channel 5’s Saturday show – Click image below to go to the full episode. Dom’s part starts around the 1 hour mark.

On the red carpet:

I hope these reviews give you a little bit of a taste and get you excited about seeing Pet – having seen it myself now I think it’s brilliant. Keep an eye out for the official release dates!

Electric Shadows: “Twists, surprises and back and forth power shifts make this a riveting battle of wits and nerve, whose secrets are best left to discover for yourself.”

We Make Movies on Weekends: “With grim gory, the film is largely character driven and that’s the brilliance of it all. As Solo and Monaghan electrify their dialogue with emotion and a beguiling power-play, you’ll be immersed in the sinister world.”

Flickering Myth: “The pure genius of Carles Torrens’s Pet is that it constantly plays with audience expectations. Just when you think you’ve got Pet all worked out, Jeremy Slater’s script pulls out the rug, creating one of the best cinematic and storytelling experiences of 2016.”

Screen Daily: “A suspenseful mystery thriller which initially seems a straight lift from Fowles’ book, The Collector, but develops in other, surprising directions.”

And I’m bringing back an older interview from SXSW because… I can! And I forgot to post it when this came out.. Enjoy!

New TV show coming up with Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd!

billydomfrank

We’ve been seeing hints of this for a while now…

It looks like after Billy appeared on Dominic’s Wild Things show that we might be able to look forward to even more! Dominic Monaghan has just confirmed during interviews at the UK premiere of PET that there’s a new TV show coming up that he worked on together with Billy Boyd.

Travel / business of food show… sounds really good! From what I hear, it should be a project that’ll finally be revealed in 2017.

#BugsR4Girls

bugsR4Girls

The hashtag #BugsR4Girls has been going viral since Sophie Spencer’s mother, Nicole, emailed the Entomological Society of Canada this week asking if someone could offer any encouragement – the group reached out to everyone on twitter.

There have been nearly a thousand retweets — more than 100,000 views of the original tweet — and many shares from people on social media keen to assure Sophia she’s wonderful, not weird. Even our favourite Wild Things host responded.

Sophia is heading into Grade 2 next month and in an interview, was surprised to learn how cool her new entomologist friends believe she is.

“It actually kind of makes me feel good because they say it’s OK to be a girl who likes bugs,” Sophia said.

Her mother Nicole said “We are very thankful for all the support we’ve received and for all the love they’ve shown.”

Sophia, meanwhile, is too busy with insects to map her career precisely. But she has some ideas: “I’m going to be a scientist, a bug expert and a vet and I’m going to become an astrophysicist,” she said.

Quantum Break Available for PC too

quantum-break-dominic-monaghan_mainThe game Quantum Break will no longer be an xbox / Windows exclusive, but also become available on Steam and in retail on September 14.

Ambitious video game “Quantum Break” was first presented as exclusive to the Xbox One console, then as a joint release for Windows 10 computers. Now, after just five months on the Windows 10 Store, it’s being re-released but through one of the PC’s most popular retailers, Steam.

It features a mixture of time-travelling action, adventure, and conspiracy, with live action, television-style episodes sandwiched between each of its five main acts. Actors like Shawn Ashmore (the “X-Men” movies), Aidan Gillen (“Game of Thrones”) and Dominic Monaghan (“Lord of the Rings”) lent their likenesses and acting talents to the game.

Also available on the same date: Quantum Break: Timeless Collector’s Edition.
It will include a number of additional features like a “making of” disc, behind the scenes footage and more:

  • Premium packaging
  • 5 Game Discs (one-time Steam key redemption required)
  • Making of Blu-Ray
  • Making of Book
  • 1 Soundtrack CD (Audio-CD)
  • 2 Posters
  • Quickstart Guide

Dominic Monaghan told Paste Magazine he would love to keep working on more video games.

Yeah, I’d like to. I’ve played video games, I’m a fan of video games. I play FIFA all the time, obviously. I’m a big fan of Skyrim and The Witcher and some UFC games. Old-school games like Goldeneye and Mario Kart, Kelly Slater’s Pro Surfer, and things like that, I’m a fan of. If I’ve got everything done, and I’ve watched all my movies and all that kind of stuff, then I’ll stick on FIFA and kill a few hours playing FIFA, or playing The Witcher. So I’d like to keep doing video games, because it’s a medium that I think is very powerful, and a lot of fun—so much more immersive than movies.

Read that full article HERE, besides talking a bit more about the challenges of filming his parts in Quantum Break, he also mentions Wild Things and his plans for the future with the show!
