TORONTO – Former “Lost” star Dominic Monaghan says he won’t be part of an upcoming reunion marking the show’s 10th anniversary.

The actor says he’s not interested in looking back on his role as drug-addled rocker Charlie on the ABC smash, which debuted in 2004.

Several of Monaghan’s former “Lost” co-stars are expected to gather at the Paleyfest television festival next month in Hollywood, where one of the marquee events will be a 10th anniversary celebration.

Monaghan says he’ll be in Stockholm working on a Swedish TV show at the time.

But he also says he’s not a fan of attending reunions in general. He notes that he hasn’t done many reunions for “The Lord of the Rings,” nor does he go to high school reunions.

He says he prefers to focus on the present, such as his current nature and travel series for OLN, “Wild Things with Dominic Monaghan.” A second season debuts March 25.

“It’s very strange for me to look back on anything in my life,” Monaghan said Thursday during a stop in Toronto to promote the OLN series.

“I’m reminded of things like ‘Lord of the Rings’ or ‘X-Men’ or ‘Lost’ but I don’t dwell on those things. It’s really hard to explain. You have to be careful in the position that I’m in to not get too fixated on those things because you’re already in a world where people have a fan-type element to the work that you do which is present.

“So if you’re constantly aware of all the other fan-type elements that you’ve done in the past with certain films or certain TV shows they compound on top of each other and then your ego gets messed around with and I don’t want to do that.”

Monaghan’s diverse roles include the Hobbit known as Merry in “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, a quantum physicist on the shortlived TV show “FlashForward,” and an electrical-powered mutant known as “Bolt” in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”

“I haven’t done a lot of reunions for other things – I’ve not done that many ‘Lord of the Rings’ reunions, I’ve not done reunions from my high school … I don’t feel obliged to go to those things,” he says, adding that he nonetheless loved working on “Lost” and is proud of the show.

“It was one of the best first seasons of a TV show of all time and one of the best pilot episodes ever, if not the best. But you know, I did it. I did it 100 per cent, it’s done.”
