Ever wanted to try on hairy Hobbit feet or Hobbit ears? Wield Sting? Now is your chance to bid on them and many other exclusive and rare movie memorabilia from Lord of the Rings. Besides director Peter Jackson, Troika Brodsky is the largest private collector of LOTR memorabilia. It’s the items from his extensive collection that are on sale as of TODAY!
An example of what’s up for auction through Julien’s Auctions Beverly Hills is a pair of foam latex prosthetic hobbit ears created for the production of The Lord of the Rings trilogy (New Line Cinema, 2001, 2002, 2003) by Weta, for use by Dominic Monaghan as the hobbit Meriadoc Brandybuck.
The Weta Workshop makeup and prosthetics department created individually designed ears for each principal hobbit character. Two distinct types of ear prosthetics were used for filming, some covering the actor’s entire ear and others applied to the tops and blended in with makeup. For ear prosthetics covering the entire ear, such as these, molds were taken of the actors’ ears so that the prosthetics could seamlessly slip on and not obstruct their hearing during filming.
These hobbit ears are estimated to fetch between $5,000 – $8,000.
The whole collection is expected to raise $1.2 million!
